parliment

This was a mock parliament competition that our sixth form entered. To enter you had to make a video of a mock parliament debate. We were asked to film it, so we did!!!! Although for all the hard work we put in we received minimalist thanks and maximum criticism.

Staring: a talent less bunch of so called actors/politics students (with the exception of one or two.)  And with the help (if you can call it that) of the right honorable Brian Mawhinney.

We arrived at the town hall first, the location for filming and where the action would take place. The first half of the day was wasted for us as they spent it rehearsing and waiting for the MP to arrive! They apparently we doing most of it wrong so he changed most of it and they had to try and get it right from there. The day had two hours left in it when they were finally ready for us to film it! They expected us to be able to film the whole thing in one take without It looking like a home movie. We finally persuaded them that we would have to do it shot by shot. During the filming we were constantly hindered by stupid behavior, actors that required infinite amounts of takes and if the cocked up would stop for a second say sorry and continue and expect us to have reset our cameras be ready and get everything right first time. We were also interrupted by Brian Mawhinney who would call out in the middle of a shot and had himself down as Steven Spielberg for the day. Once the filming was over we were then informed of the order they wanted it in, so they haven’t even bothered to do it in the correct order, where they wanted there fades and how we should do this and that. Once the filming was over we were the last to leave. And then when we had spent two days in the editing suite at the media department of lady lodge arts center. They expected a highly toned and trim Hollywood style production, we were working with the schools 300 pound cameras no lighting, on camera sound and unrehearsed actors, you get what you pay for! People endless complained that the sound wasn’t good enough and other things. The film itself wasn’t actually that bad it turned out well we covered for everyone’s mistakes and stupid behavior and worked damn hard to produce a good video for which we received no thanks, except from Mrs. Mellor (head of sixth form) and this girl. The final product was good and we put a lot of effort into it and received no credit. Thank You! very much!
