Making an omlette is to date our most high profile video, It was an entry for a competition on British Telecom’s site www.getoutthere.bt.com  that showcases unsigned talent. The competitions requirements were to make a short (i.e. notmore than 5 min) opening scene for a film inspired by the title “Making an omlette”. We spent quite a while creating the film and were very proud with the results. Especially considering we had made the film completely on our own. The idea was penned by us, the story boards were drawn by us, the locations and props were found by us, all the camera work was done by us, we acted in the film, and put the music together at the end, The film was made with no editing on a borrowed Hi8 camcorder. We simply shot the scene we were after then rolled back the tape till the cut point and recorded the next scene from there, we had to get it right from the start. Unfortunately we did not win the competition but we did manage to reach a number two chart position out of 165 other films.

Although we were making just an opening scene it did mean we had to plan out a whole film, The basic gist of the film was that it followed the story of an ill fated anarchist and his attempts to change the world for the better by smashing big corporation and destroying capitalism. How did we get to that from "Making an omlette"? Well, we went for the metaphorical approach. Making an omlette suggested to us the phrase, "if you wanna make an omlette then you gotta break some eggs" The omlette that is being made is the better world that the anarchist is trying to achieve and the eggs that must be broken are the heads of big business and government that he is targeting. In the opening scene you see the first attempt of the anarchist to take out one of these corporate mangers. It is done in the pre credit style of a James bond film and ends with a cliffhanger and the audience not knowing exactly what's going to happen.
